THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LOCAL LIVE MUSIC
AND YOUR LOCAL FOODSHED!

Stu Allen moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to join Melvin Seals and The JGB Band, of which he was the lead vocalist/guitarist for the next seven years. During this time he has become one of the leading figures in the jam band and Grateful Dead-inspired community, expressing his flavor of music through a variety of projects. He has fronted a number of Dead tribute acts, including a tour with the nationally touring Dark Star Orchestra. This path has culminated in the formation of his current project, Stu Allen and Mars Hotel, which was birthed hosting the weekly Grateful Dead Night at Ashkenaz in Berkeley, and now plays around the Northern California area. Stu regularly plays with Phil Lesh and Friends on tour and at the Grateful Dead bassist's Terrapin Crossroads. Stu also is a founding member of Phil's band Communion. You can also see Stu in Bay Area favorites The Rock Collection and Ghosts of Electricity

Justin Purtill has performed, recorded, and toured with the likes of Edgar Bateman, Gary Burton, Jerry Bergonzi, Hal Crook, George Garzone, Leo Genovese, Brian Godchaux, Donna Jean Godchaux, Bill Goodwin, Joe Hunt, Steve Kimock, Eric Kloss, Bridget Kearney of Lake Street Dive, Rakalam Bob Moses, Tisziji Munoz, Tiger Okoshi, Kelli Scarr, Melvin Seals and the JGB, Esperanza Spalding, The Sewer Rats, Kendrick Scott, and Paul Wertico. Justin has released three CD's of improvisational singer-songwriter music entitled "Permanent Mystery", "Raw", and "Sore Eyes for Sight", and his fourth record "El Paso" will be coming out on Constant Clip records in 2015. Justin tours with internationally known and beloved alt-rap band Residente from Peurto Rico. Justin and Stu met while attending Berklee College in Boston and later played together in JGB and in Stu's Mars Hotel.
